Welcome

Twenty-seven centuries of constant development make Rome an unparalleled example of both physical and cultural sustainability. Rome has timeless architecture and is one of the richest archaeological sites in the world. Uncovering the treasures buried beneath the city is increasingly important, and preserving the art and architecture is at a critical stage. With these challenges come unique opportunities for Americans to help.

The American Institute for Roman Culture is dedicated to helping promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Rome. We offer intensive academic programs and unique study-abroad opportunities that combine coursework with field experience—archaeological excavations, surveys and site visits—as well as conferences, publications and seminars in conservation, ancient architecture, Italian and Classical languages, art and culture. The Institute brings experts from around the world to lead the education and conservation programs, collaborating with leading universities and the Italian and American governments. We provide the financial, technical and organizational resources to carry out these important programs, relying on donations and grants from individual, corporate and foundation donors—and we need your support.
