Past Programs & Excavations
The American Institute for Roman Culture has been involved in conducting field-school excavations since 2003, both partnering with other institutions and universities and acting alone. Currently, the AIRC is active at Parco dei Ravennati (2012-2016) with study session in 2017.
Past partners have included Oxford and Stanford Universities (post aedem Castoris excavation in the Roman Forum, 2003-2005), the University of Texas at Austin (Ostia Antica synagogue mapping project), and the University of Bologna (Ostia Antica, Porta Marina).
AIRC’s excavations at the Villa delle Vignacce in the Roman suburbium were conducted in conjunction with the City of Rome.
